Information

  • How to create a traditional Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich
  • For Coursera week 6
  • Formatted in my usual manner for writing documentation on my self-hosted DokuWiki instance

Prerequisites

  • An open, flat surface for preparation
  • At least two slices of preferred bread per-sandwich
  • Butter knife or other food-grade spreading utensil
  • Any brand of Peanut Butter
  • Any brand and/or flavor of Jelly 1)

Bread

  1. Acquire two slices of bread
  2. Lay them down on your surface

Peanut Butter

  1. Acquire your container of Peanut Butter
  2. Use your butter knife or spreading utensil to scoop out a small amount of Peanut Butter from its container
  3. Choose one of the two slices of bread and hold it flat in your non-dominate hand
  4. Spread a thin layer of Peanut Butter on one side of the chosen piece of bread, using your hand to support the bread
  5. Lay the bread back down on your surface with the side with the Peanut Butter facing upward

Jelly

  1. Acquire your container of Jelly
  2. Clean your butter knife or spreading utensil to remove any Peanut Butter that may remain on it
  3. Use your butter knife or spreading utensil to scoop out a small amount of Jelly from its container
  4. Grab the second slice of bread without Peanut Butter on it and hold it flat in your non-dominate hand
  5. Spread a thin layer of Jelly on one side of the second piece of bread, using your hand to support the bread
  6. Lay the bread back down on your surface to the right of the first slice of bread with the side with the Jelly facing upward 2)

Finalize

  1. Gently flip the left side of the slice of bread with Peanut Butter on it so that it lands on the slice of bread with the Jelly on it
  2. The final product layered from top-to-bottom should be a slice of bread, Peanut Butter, Jelly, and finally a slice of bread
  3. Optional: You may now make any additional customizations to the sandwich as-preferred 3)
  4. Finally, consume your Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich!
1)
I personally recommend a natural fruit spread
2)
at this point you should have two slices of bread on your surface; one with Peanut Butter facing upward on the left, and one with Jelly facing upward on the right
3)
slicing off the crust, cutting the sandwich into rectangles or triangles
